Indonesia’s first specialist foot services were introduced via Yayasan Bantuan Kesehatan Indonesia, a foundation established in 2005 to introduce the medical modality of podiatry.

Its inaugural training clinic and orthotic manufacture facility are located in Kebayoran Baru, South Jakarta.

The principles of the business relocated from Sydney, Australia in mid 2005 where they had practiced podiatry under the banner “Podiatry Professionals” for nearly 30 years. Following extensive feasibility research, Indonesia was chosen as the first stage in the company’s international expansion owing to its close proximity to Australia, large population, lack of specialist foot care services as well as its enormous diabetic population (4th highest prevalence in the world according to WHO) for which diabetic foot disease is a co–morbidity.

Continuing medical education has been a feature of the company since its inception and the business plan for rolling out services throughout Indonesia hinges on transfer of knowledge to local medically qualified staff.
